Flappy New Year is an annual, livestream charity event held over the New Years holiday. The purpose and main idea of the event is to celebrate the coming of the New Year with everyone in the whole world, while also raising money for a charity of our choosing to start the year off on a great note! Flappy New Year will always happen on the New Year, starting with the very first time zone (January 1st, LINT) and ending on the last time zone (January 1st, AoE): this ends up being a 26-hour long event!

 

The event first originated when a group of friends were trying to plan for a New Year’s party. The plan originally was to just have a get-together and hang out to celebrate their specific New Year, but then the idea began to develop further. Talk of potentially making it a livestream event would be entertaining, but in order to do that would require a 26-hour livestream if they were to capture every timezones’ New Year. Then, we thought, if the livestream were to happen, why not make it into a fund-raising event for a charity? Thus, the creation of Flappy New Year!

 

With the help, collaboration, and shared goals between a group of friends, everyone in the world is able to make a difference in thousands of people’s lives in this annual event! As you watch all the different panels take place, remember that the goal of starting the New Year by helping someone smile is the number one goal.
